About Durga Manimaran:

Born with the inner passion for dance, Durga began learning the art of Bharathanatyam at the tender age of four under the guidance of Viswakala Bharathi, Smt Neila Sathyalingam She has performed in numerous community projects, dance dramas and arts festivals locally and abroad with the company. Since her arangetram in 1997, Durga never looked back in her journey with dance. Durga has had the privilege to train under the late Smt. Krishnaveni Lakshman, the former principal of Kalakshetra College of Fine arts, Chennai where she studied the fine nuances of dance. Durga has showcased her solo productions in Australia, Chennai and Malaysia during the dance festivals. She is also a follower of the “Navanrithya”, in Kolkata, which teaches contemporary dance styles based on Indian Classical dance forms. A graduate of Deakin University Melbourne, she holds a bachelor of Contemporary Arts with a Dance major. She aims at propagating dance as part of a lifestyle in Singapore.
