Objective
- To learn about over 10 types of ethnic Indian drums. - To hear a percussion ensemble - Selected students to be able to learn basic rhythmic patterns and perform the ethnic percussion ensemble
Synopsis
The performance will start with introducing the following instruments, briefly playing them:
Mridangam Tavil Tabla Urumi Khanjira Morsing Ghatam Dholak Udukkai Pakwaj
Instructors will play with 3 of the instruments as a percussion ensemble.
Students will then be allowed to try playing some of the instruments.
Highlights to watch out for
Students will be surprised with indian instruments which they have never seen in Singapore before. This will be followed by a quiz, and prizes will be given.
